Benjamin “BJ” McBride is an Oakland-based filmmaker, curator, cultural organizer, and founder of BRTH RIGHT, whose work lives at the intersection of art, social justice, and community healing. Rooted in West Oakland, McBride brings a deeply personal and community-centered approach to storytelling, one shaped by his experiences organizing around police violence, gun violence, and the grief carried by Black and Brown families across the Bay Area and beyond.
 
A graduate of UCLA, McBride has spent over ten years building an interdisciplinary creative practice that spans filmmaking, art curation, and collective healing work. He is the founder of BRTHRIGHT, a creative agency built around the idea that we all are created by a creator to create.
 
As a curator at WORTHLESSSTUDIOS in NYC, his creative practice has expanded to reach national audiences, but he remains committed to his advocacy work, centering underrepresented voices in cinema, music, and the visual arts.
